Engineers Without Borders
Selected as one of EWB-USA's Premier Chapters for 2008
The University of Pittsburgh chapter of Engineers Without Borders (EWB) was established in the spring of 2006 by a handful of students wising to apply their skills and resources and give to those in great need. EWB-PITT was recognized as an official student organization and chapter of EWB-USA in the spring of 2007. Today the group continues to grow and expand their reach with the guidance of the local Pittsburgh Professional Chapter. The chapter is in the midst of their first major project in Mali, Africa. Engineers for a Sustainable World
Engineers for a Sustainable World (ESW) mobilizes students and professionals through education, technical projects and collaborative action to impact local and global sustainability challenges. ESW's primary goals are to stimulate and foster an increased and more diverse community of engineers, and to infuse sustainability into the practice and studies of every engineer. ESW-Pitt has long term relationships with the town of Vandergrift, PA, working on both hydrokinetic energy and green building renovation. They also work on-campus to do educational and infrastructure projects. For more information, contact the group at ESWPitt@gmail.com
